Principal for PK-8th grade
Mr. John Petrey
Head of School
After obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, Mr. Petrey completed a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Columbia International University. He also holds a Master’s degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Petrey is a graduate of the School Leadership Executive Institute for Developing Aspiring Principals and is certified as an elementary teacher, principal and supervisor by the South Carolina Dept of Education.
Mr. Petrey has served on accreditation teams for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the advisory panel for CAPE, the Council for American Private Education, and is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
Mrs. Deena Ruff
Mrs. Ruff holds a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from University of Phoenix as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a minor in Bible from Lee University. She taught middle school language arts for 13 years in the public school system before being hired to teach 8th grade language arts at MCS. Mrs. Ruff has been teaching at Mountain since 2006 and is currently serving as principal.
Mrs. Melissa Lindner
Mrs. Lindner holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland where she is also completing her Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision. Since 2000, Mrs. Lindner has served MCS in numerous professional roles including teacher, mentor, enrichment specialist, and now assistant principal.
